Who we are
Kreiman Chess Academy is an
organization dedicated to establishing competitive chess programs along the
west coast, as well as promoting the use of chess as an educational tool in the
school system. We conduct seminars, courses, tournaments and camps - setting up
an exciting and safe environment for kids and their parents. Kreiman Chess
Academy was started by Grandmaster Boris Kreiman
- professional chess player and an
experienced coach for over 10 years. He has won over 20 international
tournaments, participated in 3 World Junior Championships and 3 US
Championships. Among his many victories are 1993 and 1996 US Junior
Championships, and a 3rd place in the 2002 US Championship in Seattle. He is
also a proud receiver of the prestigious Samford Scholarship which is given to
the best young chess player in the US by Chess-in-the-Schools in New York City.
A Grandmaster is equivalent to an
NBA All-Star basketball player like Shaquille O'Neil. Grandmaster Boris is the
Shaquille O'Neil of chess.
All of the instructors at Kreiman
Chess Academy are trained and certified by Grandmaster Boris Kreiman. A
Grandmaster is the highest ranked title that a chess player can receive and
there are only about 40 in the United States. The Grandmaster has taught many
national champions such as Gata Kamsky (ranked #2 in the world) and Benjamin
Rabinowitz (2003 K-1 National Champion). Along with instructing, Boris is also
the monthly columnist for Rank & File, the most popular chess magazine in
Southern California.
